Tudor blanket chest 1/48th engraved with the Tudor rose. Flat packed, in kit form and ready for construction in colours of your own choosing. Size: 4.2 cms long x 1.8 cms high x 1.5 cms deep from the lid/top. Non opening lid. Coffers were used for traveling, or for storing valuables, chests were more generic. This example would, in its day, have been called a chest. More recently, however, the name "coffer" has been used by collectors and dealers for these early chests to distinguish them from 18th and 19th century ones. The Tudor Rose is the symbol of the Tudor family and is represented by the union of a red and white rose. The red rose being the House of Lancaster and the white the House of York. This union brought to an end the bitter civil war which is commonly referred to as ‘The War of the Roses’.
